International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event held on the 31st of August each year and aims to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of drug-related deaths. The day also acknowledges the grief felt by families and friends remembering those who have died or had a permanent injury as a result of an overdose.
Overdose Awareness Day
The Litchfield County Opiate Task Force Annual Overdose Awareness Day Resource Fair and Vigil.
The Litchfield County Opiate Task Force hosts an annual Overdose Awareness Day resource fair and vigil. Please join us:
August 29, 2024, at Coe Memorial Park in Torrington, Connecticut.
The resource fair will begin at 5:30 PM. Local agencies will be providing resources and naloxone training.
During this time, we will be collecting names to be read aloud during the vigil and the memorial wall will be open.
If you have an #End Overdose shirt from previous years, please wear it!
The vigil portion will begin at 7:00 PM.
Remembering those we have lost
We hope to commemorate the lives lost to overdose by reading their name to be read during our candlelight vigil. When you arrive at the event, please look for the station with purple balloons to submit their names. Please submit names before 7:00PM.
We will also have a memorial wall for pictures to remember those we have lost. We will also have some materials to decorate cardstock for those who wish to remember their loved one without affixing a photo to the wall or for you to decorate around a photo.
